Abstrakt: When the enthusiast PC market began moving from performance mechanical hard drives to solid state storage it wasn't the traditional players who saw the greatest success. The likes of Western Digital, Hitachi etc all saw memory manufacturers step in and co...
– 5 year warranty, Mediocre:, The technology is “top end” but limited by the SATA3 (6GB/s) interface
Bit too expensive to “compete” with other brands, – Not much of a jump “if any” from the original 840 EVO
Specifically today, I will be taking a look at the Samsung 850 EVO 250GB drive which is the sweet spot in my opinion for an operating system with enough room for programmes/applications as well as a couple of games. The 850 EVO features Samsung's 32 laye...

One of the strongest performing consumer SSDs out there. Looks the part, and performs comparably to current prosumer SSDs, albeit in a consumer price bracket. We highly recommend this for anyone looking for the best price to perfomance ratio!

Abstrakt: If you have a good thing, it's natural to want to keep it going. And that's exactly what Samsung has done with the 4TB version of its SSD 850 EVO ($1,499). Samsung introduced the SSD 850 EVO family in 2014, and its solid-state drives (SSDs) have been favo...
Simple look, Serious performance, 5 year warranty vouch for the reliability of the TLC V-NAND technology
Still commands a premium pricing
The Samsung 850 EVO family may not be offer the best value per GB out there, but looking at the performance figures, this is definitely the drive to get if you want snappy performance without moving up the ranks to a PCIe NVMe SSD. The cheapest Samsung 85...
Abstrakt: We have mentioned many times in previous SSD reviews that the market for SSDs is extremely competitive and price-sensitive. And the only way to remain competitive is to own your NAND production facilities or intellectual property in the form of the SSD co...

No accessories, Higher price, Write performance suffers with increasing queue depth
Samsung is a true giant in the SSD market and is currently the only brand that designs and manufactures all aspects of a drive - controller, NAND and firmware. Only Toshiba, with the acquisition of OCZ, comes close, but they have yet to fully take advanta...
