We were pleasantly surprised by the overall performance and function of the two 6TB Red drives. In their intended environment, the performance was on par with some enterprise level drives. We were also able to stream video to two devices while also writin...

Helium did not make the 8TB Red noticeably lighter (I kid - it is actually 0.22 lbs lighter!), Would like to see 7200 RPM consumer model (8TB Red Pro), More 8TB Red review action coming soon

Excellent Transfer Speed, 5TB Storage Space
Access Speed
I really wish 10Gb/s Ethernet was a norm. With the requirement for networked (especially wired LAN) storage requirement is slowly growing in many households with multiple systems and wireless devices, 1Gb/s Ethernet port just doesn't cut it. Its long over...
I'll preface this conclusion by saying that there are more 6TB hard drive reviews en route. It'd be nice to test out the WD Green, for starters, although I don't think it's that necessary. I believe it should perform just about the same as this Red driv...
When considering the WD alternatives, both Red and Green drives seemed priced appropriately and ran cool and quiet throughout testing. We have nothing to complain about, as they seemed to do the job and won't require the cost upside we saw with Seagate's offering. All in all, we're happy to recommend all three drives, but there are caveats to that all-important price performance curve that you'll have to calculate for yourself, based on your specific needs and wants...
Abstrakt: We received updated samples from WD, as well as applying a firmware update to the samples used in our original review. We were able to confirm that the update does in fact work, and brings a WD60EFRX-68MYMN 0 to the identical and improved performance char...

Abstrakt: The WD Red 1TB (2.5 inch) and 6TB.Undersides.The Red drives we're going to examine today come in starkly different form factors. The Red 6TB is more of what we've seen before, the latest high capacity desktop flagship for users with limited drive bays who...
Largest NAS HDD available, Great 8K performance, Upgraded NASware features
Trade-off in random access performance with slower spindle speed
For those looking maximize their storage capabilities in a NAS, the WD Red 6TB drives are a great option. Not only to they perform very well, but they offer 2TB more capacity than anything else currently in the market on a third generation platform that h...

sCutting through the benchmarks, what does all this mean?Firstly, if you're using a NAS with traditional (non-NAS specific) hard drives, then switching to a WD Red drive (or one of its competitors, like Seagate NAS hard drives) may provide a bump in file...

Raw Performance (However More Than Enough For NAS Use),
Although we don't do power consumption tests on HDDs cause quite frankly it's very hard to be 100% on the spot with such results we did perform our usual temperature and noise level tests both of which showcase that Western Digital has indeed invested tim...
